In order to earn this honor, the club has to interclub with every other club in the division, with at least one club outside the division, and with a SLP group. The interclubs have to be spread out over at least 10 months.
In addition to the Round Robin, there is also a District and a Division Interclub Contest. The requirements are different and the award is based on points for interclubs.
There are bonus points for interclubs at the Governor's visit, Interclub Luncheon at District, Governor's visit, Mid Winter Interclub Luncheon, etc. We can even get points for having 4 club members at DCM meetings (which we do frequently, given that Club President and Secretary are asked to attend every DCM, Mike Akana has been gearing up to act as Lt. Governor, and both Larry Graves and Glenn Behm are past district officers and frequently attend as well. These extra points don't count for the Round Robin but they do for the Interclub contests.
Interclubs
One of our long standing club traditions is to complete a Round Robin of interclubs (visiting other Kiwanis Clubs) every year. There are currently 15 clubs (not including ours) to visit plus in order to qualify we also must interclub at least once with our Key Club and once with a club outside our division. So that means we will need to schedule and complete 2 interclubs in at least 5 of the remaining months in order to qualify.
For our newer club members, an interclub is when at least 4 members of our club join another club for one of their meetings. It is a great way to get to know other Kiwanians and to pick up ideas for our own club.
Thank you Larry, Lynne, Mike, Harry and Gil for completing an Interclub with Mountain View January 16. I spoke as the Division 34 Ambassador for the Kiwanis International Foundation. We also completed an Interclub with South San Francisco on short notice earlier in the week.
Also, since we don't have a lot of activities this month, we thought we would try to squeeze in a third interclub on Monday, January 28 with San Carlos. They meet at Vic's Restaurant on San Carlos Avenue in downtown San Carlos.
But we need volunteers. We’ve had a good showing from members who have been attending the morning meeting, but we need help. Please join us so we can complete our Round Robin. Please contact either me or Larry or log onto www.KiwanisPortal.com and go to "View Current Events". Click on whichever interclub you want to sign up for, and just go ahead and sign up!!
Thanks for helping us out, and have a very Happy New Year!
