Objects of Kiwanis International

The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis International were approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924 Convention in Denver, Colorado. Through the succeeding decades, they have remained unchanged.

  1. To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
  2. To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
  3. To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.
  4. To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
  5. To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.
  6. To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Objects Exemplified

Welcome to our special gold section that recognizes honors bestowed upon members of Woodside Terrace A.M. Kiwanis.  Currently, in addition to Division Lt. Governors and Club Presidents, we have listed just a few examples of Kiwanians who exemplify the Objects of Kiwanis list above. These are our most recent honorees that have been recognized in the current  year.

We read the Object of Kiwanis every time a new member is inducted, not only to introduce the new member to the principles we strive toward, but also to remind ourselves.

We are currently expanding our Gold Honors section of the web site to include prior honorees.  Also to be included soon are awards such as Distinguished Kiwanian which are earned by fulfilling specific requirements set down each year by Cal Nev Ha District.

On Being Distinguished

One of the awards that Kiwanians can strive for every year is Distinguished Kiwanian. The requirements vary from year to year, but this year they have been simplified to just 3:

 - Recruit 2 new members

 - Participate in 2 service projects

 - Attend both Mid Winter and District Conventions

Distinguished Kiwanians will receive a lapel pin and recognition at the 2007 Kiwanis International Convention.

Together We CAN...

  • Climb Higher in strengthening membership!
  • Achieve Success in changing the face of Kiwanis!
  • Nurture Excellence in everything we do!

The result of doing things TOGETHER is greater service!
